Help me, help you

By

I remember reading my first self- improvement book during covid. I felt so inspired that someones words were helping me grow. It sounds cheesy. I also understand that some people don’t know where to start on self help books, or maybe don’t even like them. I really recommend giving these a chance. I promise you won’t be disappointed.

  1. Untamed, Glennon Doyle- I have referenced this book probably about 5 times in my blog, I have read it in its entirety 3 times, and I have sent at least 5 different people I love a copy. If you want a book that you can always come back to and reread, in any stage of life, I highly recommend this one. It reminds me to trust myself, trust my people, and be exactly who I am in every room. (I also wouldn’t necessarily call this a “self help” book. I would say it’s more anecdotal, reflective, and empowering.)
  2. Everybody Always, Bob Goff – Another one I love to send my people. This book makes you believe in humanity again. It reminds you that it is not your job to decide if people are worthy or not of love, but to just love. (Faith based.)
  3. 101 Essays that Will Change the Way You Think, Brianna Weist- This is another book I come back to often. You can pick it up in the middle and read any chapter and feel like you were reminded of something you needed to hear. (Written in short essays and lists.)
  4. You’re a Badass, Jen Sincero- This was my first “self help” book. If you’re looking to get into them, this is a great starter that encompasses all aspects of self growth and reflection.
  5. You’re a Badass at Making Money, Jen Sincero- This was my first money self help book. What I really liked about it was how it influenced you to go deeper into the way that you view money. The way that you view money is the way that you attract money.
  6. Atomic Habits, James Clear- I actually just read this one for work and gave myself a week to read it and finished in 3 days. It covers habit stacking, the 2 minute rule, and other ways of thinking that I now try to practice everyday. I highly, highly recommend and will be reading again.
  7. Ladies Get Paid, Claire Wasserman- This is a book for my corporate girlies. It covers topics from how to interview all the way to how to ask for a promotion. Now that I have entered the corporate world, and all that it entails, I come back to this one often as well. It is also very empowering.
  8. The Alchemist, Paulo Coelho- Just a book everyone should read.
  9. #GIRLBOSS, Sophia Amoruso- Another one for the boss girlies. It is written by the founder of Nasty Gal and covers everything from style vs fashion, to starting a multi million dollar company (on accident.)
  10. The Seat of the Soul, Gary Zukav- This was my first “spirituality” book. It allowed me to take a step back from my own life and take things less personally. Once we realize everyone is living their own human experience, it can take some of the weight off other people’s actions.
